The house
Our story
The name tells the idea. In Korean, soban (소반) is the small low table on which the meal is served; “Azur” is the Côte d’Azur.
Around a soban, everyone sits close together and dips into the same dishes. Nobody has a plate “of their own”: we share, full stop.
One day, this little table made the journey to 66 rue Longue, in the heart of Old Menton. It found itself a warm little room, a few grills, some bamboo, golden embers and a good dose of Mediterranean sunshine. Soban Azur was born.
The idea is simple: you are the chef. We bring you a grill, top-quality meat and a broth gently steaming away. You choose your own seasoning from our full range of sauces, as well as your broth. The rest is up to you too. You grill, you flip, you keep an eye on your neighbour’s slice (or you pinch it, we won’t judge). You toast with soju, put the world to rights, and forget to check the time.
Here, the tables are small, but the gatherings always end up growing. You arrive as two, you leave as six. You come for dinner, and you stay for the atmosphere.
Korea brought the fire and the generosity. The Mediterranean brought the sun and the art of taking your time. Together, they make a single house rule:
